Narrativity in human interaction is part and parcel in making things come alive – principally in fashion and beauty shoots. In such instances, with all parties providing their respective stimulus, the mix creates a beautiful poetry of unexpected and amazing results. These moments of chemistry, where the ultimate result even surprises the parties contributing to create the image are moments I live for. This appeals to my core nature, my sense of adventure.

In this workshop, each participant will be presented a sample client brief and the participants are going to have a run down on how to proceed with the next course of actions. There will be an in depth exploration to key light sculpting where you will learn how to product lighting that best fit different client needs.

Fundamentals of Industrial Fashion and Commercial Photography

The combination of fashion and art with mood lighting embodies the idea of fashion photography. We work within a team, which includes art directors, editors and other creative support staff. Understanding of brands and creating varies usage of images for our clients for promotional usage. Innovation and artistic depth of interest, knowledge on latest fashion trend as well as fashion history play an important role in communicating the creative vision from the mind to image.

Topic of Discussion and Activity

In this workshop, you will learn the how to use the Profoto lighting tools to create different artistic scenes. Styling plays a key role in portraying the subject and setting the right mood. Hence, we will be staging a fashion scene and begin from creating mood board to camera set up and ultimately capturing the perfect shot.

There will also be a basic photo enhancement session where we will touch the subject of color adjustments, photo resolution and the formats of saving photo files.

Insight and Outlook to the Profoto Lighting System

Profoto is one of the leading lighting equipment since 1968. The masterminds behind it were photographer Eckhard Heine and photography equipment retailer Conny Dufgran. Their products are widely used by professional photographers in the industry to create beautiful imaginary by light sculpting.

Topic of Discussion and Activity

The workshop is aim to help you to understand light and how to use the Profoto modifiers to create a variety of moods. There will be a theory session where you will get to know the Profoto units characteristics and how to easily sync the system with your camera. Equipped with the basic knowledge on the unit, we will then teach you how to overpower the ambient light to achieve dramatic lighting.

There will be a one on one training session with each participant between snaps. Everyone will also have the chance to play the role of lead photographer, lighting assistant and model to give you an immersive photo shooting experience.
